  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to legal immigrants in Ramsey county; 
  1.3             appropriating money. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [EMERGENCY TRANSITION FUND.] 
  1.6      $7,282,120 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.7   commissioner of human services in the 1998-1999 biennium for 
  1.8   purposes of providing legal immigrants living in Ramsey county 
  1.9   who are terminated from the Supplemental Security Income program 
  1.10  with an assistance grant equal to the reduction in income due to 
  1.11  the loss of supplemental security income. 
  1.12     Sec. 2.  [CASE MANAGEMENT.] 
  1.13     $2,080,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.14  commissioner of human services in the 1998-1999 biennium for 
  1.15  purposes of providing planning and case management services to 
  1.16  legal immigrants who reside in Ramsey county. 
  1.17     Sec. 3.  [JOB TRAINING AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE EDUCATION.] 
  1.18     $1,600,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.19  commissioner of human services in the 1998-1999 biennium for job 
  1.20  training and intensive functional English education to enhance 
  1.21  work skills. 
  1.22     Sec. 4.  [CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION CLASSES.] 
  1.23     $525,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.24  commissioner of human services in the 1998-1999 biennium for a 
  2.1   grant to Ramsey county to expand citizenship education classes.
