A bill for an act
relating to employment; prohibiting broadcast
employers from including noncompete provisions in
employment agreements; proposing coding for new law in
Minnesota Statutes, chapter 181.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

EMPLOYERS.

new text begin Any provision in an employment agreement between a
broadcast employer and an employee or prospective employee which
prohibits the employee or prospective employee from working in a
specific geographic area for a specific period of time after
terminating employment with the broadcast employer is void and
unenforceable. For purposes of this section, "broadcast
employer" means a television station, television network, radio
station, or radio network.

agreements entered, renewed, or extended on or after that date.
