  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to children; appropriating money for the lead 
  1.3             hazard reduction project. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [LEAD HAZARD REDUCTION PROJECT.] 
  1.6      $300,000 is appropriated from the general fund in each 
  1.7   fiscal year of the 2004-2005 biennium to the commissioner of 
  1.8   children, families, and learning for a grant to a nonprofit 
  1.9   organization currently operating the CLEARCorps lead hazard 
  1.10  reduction project.  The grant must be used to continue the lead 
  1.11  hazard reduction project and reduce and prevent lead poisoning 
  1.12  in Minnesota's children.  The grant may be used as a match for 
  1.13  federal funds to reduce lead hazards.  Any balance in the first 
  1.14  year does not cancel but is available in the second year.
