  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to game and fish; creating a combined firearm 
  1.3             and archery license to take antlered deer; authorizing 
  1.4             taking of one antlered deer by each method; amending 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes 1998, sections 97A.475, subdivision 
  1.6             2; and 97B.301, subdivisions 1, 2, and by adding a 
  1.7             subdivision.  
  1.8   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.9      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 97A.475, 
  1.10  subdivision 2, is amended to read: 
  1.11     Subd. 2.  [RESIDENT HUNTING.] Fees for the following 
  1.12  licenses, to be issued to residents only, are: 
  1.13     (1) for persons under age 65 to take small game, $10; 
  1.14     (2) for persons age 65 or over, $5; 
  1.15     (3) to take turkey, $16; 
  1.16     (4) to take deer with firearms, $22; 
  1.17     (5) to take deer by archery, $22; 
  1.18     (6) to take one antlered deer by firearms and one antlered 
  1.19  deer by archery, $44; 
  1.20     (7) to take moose, for a party of not more than six 
  1.21  persons, $275; 
  1.22     (7) (8) to take bear, $33; 
  1.23     (8) (9) to take elk, for a party of not more than two 
  1.24  persons, $220; 
  1.25     (9) (10) to take antlered deer in more than one zone, $44; 
  1.26  and 
  2.1      (10) (11) to take Canada geese during a special season, $3. 
  2.2      Sec. 2.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 97B.301, 
  2.3   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  2.4      Subdivision 1.  [LICENSES REQUIRED.] A person may not take 
  2.5   deer without a license.  A person must have a firearms deer 
  2.6   license or a combined firearms and archery antlered deer license 
  2.7   to take deer with firearms and an archery deer license or a 
  2.8   combined firearms and archery antlered deer license to take deer 
  2.9   by archery except as provided in this section.  
  2.10     Sec. 3.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 97B.301, 
  2.11  subdivision 2, is amended to read: 
  2.12     Subd. 2.  [LIMIT OF ONE DEER.] Except as provided in 
  2.13  subdivisions 3 and, 4, and 7, a person may obtain one firearms 
  2.14  deer license and one archery deer license in the same license 
  2.15  year, but may take only one deer.  
  2.16     Sec. 4.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 97B.301, is 
  2.17  amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  2.18     Subd. 7.  [EFFECT OF COMBINED LICENSE.] A license to take 
  2.19  antlered deer by firearms and by archery authorizes the taking 
  2.20  of one antlered deer by each method.  A licensee must comply 
  2.21  with all laws and rules of the commissioner governing the method 
  2.22  used to take each deer.
