  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to commerce; banning the sale or rental of 
  1.3             certain video games to children; providing remedies; 
  1.4             providing penalties; proposing coding for new law in 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes, chapter 325I. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [325I.10] [RESTRICTED VIDEO GAMES; 
  1.8   PROHIBITIONS.] 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [DEFINITION.] As used in this section, the 
  1.10  term "restricted video game" means a video game rated AO or M by 
  1.11  the entertainment software rating board.  
  1.12     Subd. 2.  [PROHIBITED ACTS.] No person may sell or rent a 
  1.13  restricted video game to a person under 17 years of age.  
  1.14     Subd. 3.  [PENALTIES.] (a) A person who violates 
  1.15  subdivision 2 is guilty of a misdemeanor.  
  1.16     (b) The public and private remedies in section 8.31 apply 
  1.17  to violation of this section.
