A bill for an act
relating to state government; requiring a report on potential cost savings from
remodeling the State Office Building to minimize office moves.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin REPORT ON COST SAVINGS FROM POTENTIAL STATE OFFICE
BUILDING REMODELING.

new text begin (a) The commissioner of administration, in consultation with the speaker and
minority leader of the house of representatives, must report to the legislature by October
15, 2015, on the estimated cost of remodeling the State Office Building to:

new text begin (1) place the majority leadership offices on the third floor; and
new text end

new text begin (2) make other changes that would minimize the need for members to move offices,
and that would minimize the costs associated with those moves, when the majority of the
house of representatives changes from one party to the other party.

new text begin (b) The report must include an estimate of cost savings that would occur each
biennium that the house of representatives majority changes, as a result of the remodeling
described in paragraph (a).
