  1.2             relating to elections; changing the date of the state 
  1.3             primary; eliminating the precinct caucus system; 
  1.4             amending Minnesota Statutes 1992, sections 202A.192, 
  1.5             and 204D.03, subdivision 1; repealing Minnesota 
  1.6             Statutes 1992, sections 202A.14, subdivisions 2 and 3; 
  1.7             202A.15; 202A.155; 202A.156; 202A.16; 202A.17; 
  1.8             202A.18; 202A.19; and 202A.20; Minnesota Statutes 1993 
  1.9             Supplement, section 202A.14, subdivision 1.  
  1.10  BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.11     Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1992, section 202A.192, is 
  1.12  amended to read: 
  1.13     202A.192 [USE OF PUBLIC FACILITIES.] 
  1.14     Every statutory city, home rule charter city, county, town, 
  1.15  school district and other public agency, including the 
  1.16  university of Minnesota and other public colleges and 
  1.17  universities, shall make their facilities available for the 
  1.18  holding of precinct caucuses and legislative district or county 
  1.19  conventions required by this chapter.  A charge for the use of 
  1.20  the facilities may be imposed in an amount that does not exceed 
  1.21  the lowest amount charged to any public or private group. 
  1.22     Sec. 2.  Minnesota Statutes 1992, section 204D.03, 
  1.23  subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.24     Subdivision 1.  [STATE PRIMARY.] The state primary shall be 
  1.25  held on the first second Tuesday after the second Monday in 
  1.26  September June in each even-numbered year to select the nominees 
  1.27  of the major political parties for partisan offices and the 
  2.1   nominees for nonpartisan offices to be filled at the state 
  2.2   general election, other than presidential electors.  
  2.3      Sec. 3.  [REPEALER.] 
  2.4      Minnesota Statutes 1992, sections 202A.14, subdivisions 2 
  2.5   and 3; 202A.15; 202A.155; 202A.156; 202A.16; 202A.17; 202A.18; 
  2.6   202A.19; 202A.20; and Minnesota Statutes 1993 Supplement, 
  2.7   section 202A.14, subdivision 1, are repealed.
