  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to retirement; providing for compensation for 
  1.3             the executive secretary of the Minneapolis 
  1.4             firefighters relief association; amending Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 2002, section 423C.03, subdivision 3. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 423C.03, 
  1.8   subdivision 3, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 3.  [COMPENSATION OF OFFICERS AND BOARD MEMBERS.] 
  1.10  Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, the association 
  1.11  may provide for payment of the following salaries to its 
  1.12  officers and board members: 
  1.13     (1) the executive secretary may receive a salary not 
  1.14  exceeding 30 50 percent of the maximum salary of a first grade 
  1.15  firefighter; 
  1.16     (2) the president may receive a salary not exceeding ten 
  1.17  percent of the maximum salary of a first grade firefighter; and 
  1.18     (3) all other elected members of the board may receive a 
  1.19  salary not exceeding 2.5 percent of the maximum salary of a 
  1.20  first grade firefighter. 
  1.21     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.22     Section 1 confirms the vote of the Minneapolis firefighters 
  1.23  relief association membership of August 15, 2002, to establish 
  1.24  the executive secretary's compensation at 50 percent of the 
  1.25  maximum salary of a first grade firefighter and is effective as 
  2.1   of that day.
