  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to Hennepin county; making explicit an 
  1.3             exception to a conflict of interest provision; 
  1.4             amending Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 383B.151. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 383B.151, is 
  1.7   amended to read: 
  1.8      383B.151 [FINANCIAL INTEREST FORBIDDEN.] 
  1.9      No official, person authorized to make purchases, or county 
  1.10  employee shall be financially interested, either directly or 
  1.11  indirectly, in any contract or purchase order for any goods, 
  1.12  materials, supplies, equipment or contracted service furnished 
  1.13  to or used by any department, board, commission or agency of the 
  1.14  county government.  No public official, person authorized to 
  1.15  make purchases, or county employee may accept or receive, 
  1.16  directly or indirectly from any person, firm or corporation to 
  1.17  which any contract or purchase order may be awarded any money or 
  1.18  anything of value whatsoever or any promise, obligation or 
  1.19  contract for future reward or compensation.  Nothing in this 
  1.20  section shall prevent a person from receiving reimbursement from 
  1.21  Hennepin county for providing licensed family foster care.  Any 
  1.22  violation of the provisions of this section shall be a gross 
  1.23  misdemeanor.
