  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to family law; child support, custody, and 
  1.3             visitation; requiring a six-month review of decrees 
  1.4             and orders concerning child support, custody, and 
  1.5             visitation; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota 
  1.6             Statutes, chapter 518. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  [518.178] [REVIEW OF CERTAIN ORDERS INVOLVING 
  1.9   CHILDREN.] 
  1.10     A decree of dissolution or legal separation or an order 
  1.11  that establishes child custody, visitation, and support rights 
  1.12  and obligations of parents must contain a review date six months 
  1.13  subsequent to its entry.  At the six-month hearing the court 
  1.14  shall review: 
  1.15     (1) whether support is current; and 
  1.16     (2) whether visitation rights are being complied with by 
  1.17  both parties. 
  1.18     A hearing shall not be held under this section if both 
  1.19  parties file an affidavit with the court administrator before 
  1.20  the scheduled hearing date indicating that support is current 
  1.21  and visitation rights are being complied with. 
  1.22     Contempt of court, all statutory remedies for support 
  1.23  enforcement, and the visitation remedies in sections 518.175, 
  1.24  subdivision 6, and 518.1751, may be imposed by the court at the 
  1.25  six-month hearing for noncompliance by either party.
