  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to economic development; providing funding 
  1.3             for the cleanup of certain previously contaminated 
  1.4             land; appropriating money; amending Minnesota Statutes 
  1.5             1996, section 115A.908, subdivision 2; repealing 
  1.6             Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 115A.908, subdivision 
  1.7             3. 
  1.8   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.9      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 115A.908, 
  1.10  subdivision 2, is amended to read: 
  1.11     Subd. 2.  [DEPOSIT OF REVENUE.] Revenue collected shall be 
  1.12  credited to the motor vehicle transfer account in the 
  1.13  environmental fund contaminated site cleanup and development 
  1.14  account in the general fund and is appropriated to the 
  1.15  commissioner of trade and economic development for grants under 
  1.16  section 116J.554. 
  1.17     Sec. 2.  [REPEALER.] 
  1.18     Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 115A.908, subdivision 3, 
  1.19  is repealed. 
  1.20     Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.21     Section 1 is effective July 1, 1997.  Section 2 is 
  1.22  effective the day following final enactment.
