1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to gambling; adding two members to the 1.3 gambling control board; amending Minnesota Statutes 1.4 1994, section 349.151, subdivision 2. 1.5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 349.151, 1.7 subdivision 2, is amended to read: 1.8 Subd. 2. [MEMBERSHIP.] (a) On and after July 1,19911995, 1.9 the board consists ofsevennine members, as follows: (1)those1.10 seven members appointed by the governorbefore July 1, 1991,1.11whose terms expire June 30, 1992, June 30, 1993, and June 30,1.121994; (2) one member appointed by the governor for a term1.13expiring June 30, 1994; (3), two of whom shall be active members 1.14 of organizations conducting lawful gambling; (2) one member 1.15 appointed by the commissioner of public safetyfor a term1.16expiring June 30, 1995; and(4)(3) one member appointed by the 1.17 attorney generalfor a term expiring June 30, 1995. 1.18 (b) All appointments under this subdivision are with the 1.19 advice and consent of the senate. 1.20 (c)After expiration of the initial terms,Appointments are 1.21 for four years commencing on July 1 in the initial year of the 1.22 term and concluding on June 30 in the final year of the term. 1.23 (d) The board shall select one of its members to serve as 1.24 chair. No more thanthreefour members appointed by the 1.25 governor under this subdivision may belong to the same political 2.1 party. 2.2 Sec. 2. [PRIOR APPOINTMENTS.] 2.3 The expiration dates of the terms of members of the board 2.4 serving as of January 1, 1995, shall not be affected by this act. 2.5 Sec. 3. [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 2.6 This act is effective July 1, 1995.
