  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to elections; eliminating precinct caucuses; 
  1.3             amending Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 202A.192; 
  1.4             repealing Minnesota Statutes 1996, sections 202A.14; 
  1.5             202A.15; 202A.155; 202A.156; 202A.16; 202A.18; 
  1.6             202A.19; and 202A.20. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 202A.192, is 
  1.9   amended to read: 
  1.10     202A.192 [USE OF PUBLIC FACILITIES.] 
  1.11     Every statutory city, home rule charter city, county, town, 
  1.12  school district and other public agency, including the 
  1.13  university of Minnesota and other public colleges and 
  1.14  universities, shall make their facilities available for the 
  1.15  holding of precinct caucuses and legislative district or county 
  1.16  conventions required by this chapter.  A charge for the use of 
  1.17  the facilities may be imposed in an amount that does not exceed 
  1.18  the lowest amount charged to any public or private group. 
  1.19     Sec. 2.  [REPEALER.] 
  1.20     Minnesota Statutes 1996, sections 202A.14; 202A.15; 
  1.21  202A.155; 202A.156; 202A.16; 202A.18; 202A.19; and 202A.20, are 
  1.22  repealed.
