relating to public safety; appropriating money for youth intervention program
grants.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $2,000,000 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2008, and $2,000,000 for the fiscal
year ending June 30, 2009, are appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of
public safety for youth intervention programs under Minnesota Statutes, section 299A.73.
The commissioner must use this money to make grants to help existing programs serve
unmet needs in their communities and to create and fund programs in underserved areas of
the state. This appropriation is added to the Department of Public Safety's base budget
and is available until expended.
