  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; providing for revenue for 
  1.3             remedial instruction for students who do not receive 
  1.4             passing scores on the Minnesota basic skills tests; 
  1.5             proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.6             chapter 120B. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  [120B.06] [GRADUATION STANDARDS REMEDIATION 
  1.9   INSTRUCTION REVENUE.] 
  1.10     Subdivision 1.  [REVENUE.] A school district is eligible 
  1.11  for graduation standards remedial instruction revenue equal to 
  1.12  the amount necessary to pay the costs of providing remedial 
  1.13  instruction for students who do not receive passing scores on 
  1.14  the Minnesota basic skills tests. 
  1.15     Subd. 2.  [LEVY.] A district's graduation standards 
  1.16  remedial instruction levy equals the district's graduation 
  1.17  standards remedial instruction revenue times the lesser of one 
  1.18  or the ratio of the district's adjusted net tax capacity per 
  1.19  adjusted marginal cost pupil unit to $10,000. 
  1.20     Subd. 3.  [AID.] A district's graduation standards remedial 
  1.21  instruction aid equals the difference between its graduation 
  1.22  standards remedial instruction revenue and levy. 
  1.23     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective for taxes 
  1.24  payable in 2002 and later.
