  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to agriculture; exempting Minnesota-produced 
  1.3             wine from the prohibition on the sale, possession, and 
  1.4             consumption of liquor on the state fairgrounds; 
  1.5             amending Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 37.21, 
  1.6             subdivision 2. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 37.21, 
  1.9   subdivision 2, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 2.  [EXCEPTIONS.] (a) Notwithstanding subdivision 1, 
  1.11  the state agricultural society may authorize, under terms and 
  1.12  conditions it chooses, the sale, possession, and consumption of 
  1.13  intoxicating liquors at special events taking place on the 
  1.14  fairgrounds at times other than during the annual fair 
  1.15  including, but not limited to, family reunions, class reunions, 
  1.16  weddings, conventions, and similar events.  
  1.17     (b) Notwithstanding subdivision 1, subject to other laws 
  1.18  relating to the sale of intoxicating liquor, the state 
  1.19  agricultural society may authorize the sale, possession, and 
  1.20  consumption of Minnesota-produced wine by the glass or bottle on 
  1.21  the state fairgrounds, and possession of the Minnesota-produced 
  1.22  wine within one-half mile of the state fairgrounds. 
  1.23     (c) This section does not authorize the society to issue 
  1.24  retail licenses for the sale of alcoholic beverages.
