  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to crimes; prohibiting using cellular 
  1.3             telephones when driving a motor vehicle; prescribing 
  1.4             penalties; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes, chapter 169. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [169.135] [USING A CELLULAR TELEPHONE WHEN 
  1.8   DRIVING; PENALTY.] 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [DEFINITION.] For the purpose of this 
  1.10  section, "cellular telephone" means a radio telecommunications 
  1.11  device that may be used to obtain access to the public and 
  1.12  cellular switch telephone networks and that is programmed by the 
  1.13  manufacturer with an electronic serial number. 
  1.14     Subd. 2.  [USING CELLULAR TELEPHONE WHEN DRIVING; 
  1.15  CRIME.] It is a misdemeanor for any person to use a cellular 
  1.16  telephone when the person is driving any motor vehicle within 
  1.17  this state or on any boundary water of this state.
