  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to data practices; classifying and providing 
  1.3             for access to certain data on nonpublic school 
  1.4             students collected by public schools; amending 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 13.32, by adding a 
  1.6             subdivision. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 13.32, is 
  1.9   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 4a.  [NONPUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS.] Data collected by a 
  1.11  public school on a child that must be reported pursuant to 
  1.12  section 120A.24 is private data which: 
  1.13     (1) shall not be designated directory information pursuant 
  1.14  to subdivision 5 unless prior written consent is given by the 
  1.15  child's parent or guardian; and 
  1.16     (2) may be disclosed only pursuant to subdivision 3, clause 
  1.17  (a), (b), (c), or (f).
