  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to drainage; amending Minnesota Statutes 
  1.3             1998, section 103E.235, subdivision 2. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 103E.235, 
  1.6   subdivision 2, is amended to read: 
  1.7      Subd. 2.  [JOINT COUNTY DRAINAGE AUTHORITY.] The board 
  1.8   where a petition for a proposed joint county drainage project is 
  1.9   filed shall notify the board of each county where property is 
  1.10  affected by the drainage system and request the boards to meet 
  1.11  jointly and consider the petition.  The boards shall select up 
  1.12  to five of their members at the meeting to be the drainage 
  1.13  authority.  At least one member must be from each board.  The 
  1.14  drainage authority shall be known as the joint county drainage 
  1.15  authority with a joint county drainage project or system 
  1.16  number.  A vacancy in the membership of the joint county 
  1.17  drainage authority must be filled by joint action of the boards.
