  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to retirement; authorizing the city of Eagan 
  1.3             to make certain lump sum payments to volunteer 
  1.4             firefighters. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [EAGAN VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS.] 
  1.7      Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 424A.02, or any 
  1.8   other law to the contrary, the Eagan volunteer firefighters 
  1.9   relief association may pay lump sum service pensions of up to 
  1.10  $4,200 for each year of service to members qualified under 
  1.11  section 424A.02 and the articles and bylaws of the association. 
  1.12     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.13     Section 1 is effective upon approval by the Eagan city 
  1.14  council and compliance with Minnesota Statutes, section 645.021, 
  1.15  subdivision 3.
