A bill for an act
relating to public safety; requiring that driver's
licenses of certain sex offenders be permanently
revoked; amending Minnesota Statutes 2004, section
631.40, by adding a subdivision; proposing coding for
new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 171.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

The commissioner of public safety shall permanently revoke
the driver's license of a person upon receipt of a certificate
of conviction showing that the person has violated sections
609.25 and 609.342 for acts arising out of the same course of
conduct. A limited license under section 171.30 may not be
issued to the person.

This section is effective August 1, 2005,
and applies to crimes committed on or after that date.

Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 631.40, is
amended by adding a subdivision to read:

person is convicted of violating sections 609.25 and 609.342 for
acts arising out of the same course of conduct, the court
administrator shall send a certified copy of the convictions to
the commissioner of public safety.
