1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 proposing an amendment to the Minnesota Constitution, 1.3 article IV, section 12; providing for a single regular 1.4 session of the legislature in each odd-numbered year. 1.5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.6 Section 1. [CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT.] 1.7 An amendment to the Minnesota Constitution, article IV, 1.8 section 12, is proposed to the people. If the amendment is 1.9 adopted, the section will read as follows: 1.10 Sec. 12. The legislature shall meet at the seat of 1.11 government in regular session in eachbienniumodd-numbered year 1.12 at thetimestime prescribed by lawfor not exceeding a total of1.13120 legislative days. The legislature shall not meet in regular 1.14 session, nor in any adjournment thereof, after the first Monday 1.15 following the third Saturday in May ofany yearthe odd-numbered 1.16 year. After meeting at a time prescribed by law, the 1.17 legislature may adjourn to another time."Legislative day"1.18shall be defined by law.A special session of the legislature 1.19 may be called by the governor on extraordinary occasions. 1.20 Neither house during a session of the legislature shall 1.21 adjourn for more than three days (Sundays excepted) nor to any 1.22 other place than that in which the two houses shall be assembled 1.23 without the consent of the other house. 1.24 Sec. 2. [QUESTION.] 1.25 The amendment shall be submitted to the people at the 1998 2.1 general election. The question proposed shall be: 2.2 "Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to provide for 2.3 a single regular session of the legislature in each odd-numbered 2.4 year? 2.5 Yes ....... 2.6 No ........"
