A bill for an act
relating to health; modifying the definition of lodging establishment; amending
Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 157.15, subdivision 8.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 157.15, subdivision 8, is amended to read:


Subd. 8.

Lodging establishment.

"Lodging establishment" meansnew text begin : (1)new text end a building,
structure, enclosure, or any part thereof used as, maintained as, advertised as, or held
out to be a place where sleeping accommodations are furnished to the public as regular
roomers, for periods of one week or more, and having five or more beds to let to the
publicdeleted text begin .deleted text end new text begin ; or (2) a building, structure, or enclosure or any part thereof located within ten
miles distance or 15 minutes travel time from a hospital or medical center and used as,
maintained as, advertised as, or held out to be a place where sleeping accommodations
are furnished to patients and their families while the patient is receiving or waiting to
receive health care treatments or procedures for periods of one week or more, and where
no supportive services, as defined under section 157.17, subdivision 1, paragraph (a), or
health supervision services, as defined under section 157.17, subdivision 1, paragraph (b),
or home care services, as licensed under section 144A.46 are provided.
