A bill for an act
relating to education finance; increasing the state reimbursement for
reduced-price school lunch meals; appropriating money; amending Minnesota
Statutes 2012, section 124D.111, subdivision 1.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 124D.111, subdivision 1, is amended to
read:
(a) Each school year, the state
must pay participants in the national school lunch program the amount of 12 cents for
each full paid, reduced, and free student lunch served to students, and 52 cents for each
reduced-price lunch.
(b) A school that receives school lunch aid under this section must make lunch
available without charge to all participating students who qualify for free or reduced-price
meals.
This section is effective July 1, 2013.
The sums indicated in this section are
appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Education for the fiscal years
designated.
