  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to traffic regulations; exempting garbage 
  1.3             trucks and recycling vehicles from certain weight 
  1.4             restrictions; amending Minnesota Statutes 2002, 
  1.5             section 169.87, subdivision 6. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 169.87, 
  1.8   subdivision 6, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 6.  [RECYCLING VEHICLES.] Weight restrictions imposed 
  1.10  under subdivisions 1 and 2 do not apply to (1) a two-axle 
  1.11  vehicle that does not exceed 20,000 pounds per single axle and 
  1.12  is designed and used exclusively for recycling, while engaged in 
  1.13  recycling in a political subdivision that mandates curbside 
  1.14  recycling pickup, or (2) a vehicle that does not exceed 20,000 
  1.15  pounds per single axle and is designed and used exclusively for 
  1.16  collecting mixed municipal solid waste, as defined in section 
  1.17  115A.03, subdivision 21, while engaged in such collection. 
  1.18     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective the day 
  1.19  following final enactment.
