A bill for an act
relating to contracts; regulating residential tenants and cellular telephone contracts;
requiring a cover sheet with summary; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota
Statutes, chapters 325F; 504B.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin All written contracts for cellular telephone services must
contain as the first page or first page of text, if it is preceded by a title page, a cover sheet
as provided in this section.

new text begin The cover sheet must be printed in legible type and readable
language, and contain the following:

new text begin (1) a brief statement that this is a legal contract between the service provider and user;
and
new text end

new text begin (2) a brief summary of the major provisions of the contract, with a reference to the page
number or section of the contract where they are located, including:
new text end

new text begin (i) the name, address, and telephone number of the service provider;
new text end

new text begin (ii) the term of the contract;
new text end

new text begin (iii) all payments due under the contract, including charges for services, overage charges,
fees related to late payments, early termination, or any other payment or fees to be paid to
the service provider;

new text begin (iv) the manner by which a contract can be terminated by the user;
new text end

new text begin (v) acts of default under the contract and related remedies;
new text end

new text begin (vii) the manner by which the contract can be canceled by the service provider; and

sheet as provided in this section.
