  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the legislature; limiting the odd-numbered 
  1.3             year session; providing for reconvention on 
  1.4             extraordinary occasions; proposing coding for new law 
  1.5             in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 3. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [3.013] [ODD-NUMBERED YEAR ORGANIZATIONAL 
  1.8   SESSION; EXTRAORDINARY OCCASIONS.] 
  1.9      In the odd-numbered year the legislature shall meet in an 
  1.10  organizational session for not exceeding 14 days.  The 
  1.11  legislature shall convene in the even-numbered year on the 
  1.12  Tuesday after the first Monday in January.  The legislature may 
  1.13  reconvene on extraordinary occasions in the odd-numbered year if 
  1.14  authorized by written agreement of the speaker of the house and 
  1.15  the senate majority leader or by petition signed by a majority 
  1.16  of the members of each house. 
  1.17     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.18     Section 1 is effective commencing with the legislature 
  1.19  convening in January 2003, and thereafter.
