A bill for an act
relating to data practices; requiring towns to comply with certain data
classifications; amending Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 13.202, by adding a
subdivision; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 365.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 13.202, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin Data classification and access for
towns not otherwise subject to chapter 13 are governed by section 365.65.

Sec. 2.

new text begin [365.65] DATA CLASSIFICATION AND ACCESS.

new text begin A town not otherwise subject to chapter 13 shall maintain data in its possession
consistent with any classification of the data contained in law, as defined in section 13.02.
The town shall allow inspection and provide copies of public data upon request, consistent
with the procedures established by section 13.03, subdivision 3.
