  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; providing funding to promote 
  1.3             student success in kindergarten through grade 12; 
  1.4             appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [PROMOTING STUDENT SUCCESS IN KINDERGARTEN 
  1.7   THROUGH GRADE 12.] 
  1.8      The following sum is appropriated from the general fund to 
  1.9   the department of children, families, and learning in the fiscal 
  1.10  year designated for a program grant to independent school 
  1.11  district No. 241, Albert Lea, to give at-risk children 
  1.12  differentiated learning opportunities for developing learning 
  1.13  readiness and language skills through a program that provides a 
  1.14  17:1 student-teacher ratio, para-educator assistance, and an 
  1.15  accommodation plan for each child: 
  1.16       $  300,000     .....     2000 
  1.17     Any unexpended funds do not cancel but carry forward into 
  1.18  the next fiscal year. 
  1.19     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.20     Section 1 is effective July 1, 1999.
