A bill for an act
relating to transportation; restricting weight limits on the Stillwater Lift Bridge.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin WEIGHT RESTRICTION ON STILLWATER LIFT BRIDGE.

new text begin (a) Subject to paragraph (b), the commissioner of transportation shall establish a
gross vehicle weight limit of 26,000 pounds on the Stillwater Lift Bridge, located on
marked Trunk Highway 36 over the St. Croix River in Stillwater.

new text begin (b) If the provision specified under paragraph (a) requires that the commissioner
of transportation revise or enter into a contract, agreement, or other arrangement with
authorized representatives of the state of Wisconsin, the commissioner (1) shall commence
any necessary negotiations, and (2) may not enter into a contract, agreement, or other
arrangement directly related to the Stillwater Lift Bridge unless it meets the provision
specified under paragraph (a).
