148B.555 EXPERIENCED COUNSELOR TRANSITION.
    (a) An applicant for licensure who, prior to December 31, 2003, completed a master's or
doctoral degree program in counseling or a related field, as determined by the board, and whose
degree was from a counseling program recognized by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling
and Related Education Programs (CACREP) or from an institution of higher education that is
accredited by a regional accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education
Accreditation (CHEA), need not comply with the requirements of section 148B.53, subdivision 1,
paragraph (a), clause (3), or (b), so long as the applicant can document five years of full-time
postdegree work experience within the practice of professional counseling as defined under
section 148B.50, subdivisions 4 and 5.
    (b) This section expires July 1, 2008.
