383B.125 BOARD MAY RUN FACTORY WITH INMATES AND STAFF.
    Subdivision 1. At corrections facility. The board, upon the recommendations of the county
administrator and the superintendent, is authorized to establish, equip, maintain, and operate at the
corrections facility a factory for the manufacture, processing, repairing, and production of goods,
wares, and merchandise and for that purpose to make use of the labor of inmates and to employ a
staff which the board determines necessary for the proper instruction and employment of inmates.
    Subd. 2. Must set procedures for sales, price, service charge. Notwithstanding the
provisions of sections 373.01, subdivision 1, clause (3) and 375.21, the board shall establish
procedures for setting the terms and conditions under which the county will either sell the
products manufactured or will charge for the production, repair, or processing of materials by
inmates of the corrections facility.
    Subd. 3. Wages set by superintendent; how. The superintendent, with the approval of the
board, shall provide for wages to inmates employed under this section as the superintendent may
deem proper, the amount of the wage to depend upon the quality and character of the work
performed as determined by the superintendent.
