relating to employment; forming a task force to study recruitment and retention of volunteer emergency personnel.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin The commissioner of public safety must coordinate the formation of a task force to study issues surrounding recruitment and retention of volunteer firefighters, volunteer ambulance personnel, and volunteer emergency responders. Task force membership is open to all stakeholders demonstrating an interest. A combination of volunteer firefighters, volunteer ambulance personnel, and volunteer emergency responders must constitute a majority of the members of the task force. Volunteer firefighters, volunteer ambulance personnel, and volunteer emergency responders must be represented on the task force in equal numbers. The commissioner may limit the number of individuals representing a particular organization or department. The task force, once convened, is responsible for any costs, selecting a chair, and reporting back to the commissioner its findings and recommendations, if any, by December 15, 2006. new text end
