A bill for an act
 relating to education; amending provisions relating to teacher candidates passing
a basic skills examination.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin ONE-YEAR LICENSES.

new text begin Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 122A.18, subdivision 2, as
amended by Laws 2012, chapter 122, section 2, a person who has:
 new text end

new text begin (1) obtained a one-year license to teach;
 new text end

new text begin (2) taught in a language immersion program during the 2011-2012 school year; and
 new text end

new text begin (3) been granted a visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services;
 new text end

new text begin may be approved by the Board of Teaching to continue to teach through the end of the
2013-2014 school year.
