A bill for an act
 relating to insurance; regulating insurance agents; defining a term; amending
Minnesota Statutes 2010, sections 60K.31, by adding a subdivision; 60K.32.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 60K.31, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin "Navigator" means a person described in Public Law
111-148, section 1311, paragraph (i).

Sec. 2.

Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 60K.32, is amended to read:


60K.32 LICENSE REQUIRED.

A person shall not sell, solicit, deleted text begin ordeleted text end negotiatenew text begin , or act as a navigator in regard tonew text end
insurance in this state for any class or classes of insurance unless the person is licensed
for that line of authority under sections 60K.30 to 60K.56. The license itself does not
create any authority, actual, apparent, or inherent, in the holder to represent or commit an
insurance carriernew text begin . A navigator that only facilitates enrollment in state subsidized public
programs administered by the Department of Human Services does not need to be licensed
under this sectionnew text end .
