A bill for an act
relating to natural resources; appropriating money for study on forest harvest levels;
requiring a report.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $....... in fiscal year 2018 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of
natural resources for a study of the ability to sustainably harvest at least 1,000,000 cords of
wood annually on state-administered forest lands. No later than January 2, 2018, the
commissioner must report the study's findings to the legislative committees with jurisdiction
over environment and natural resources policy and finance. This is a onetime appropriation.
