A bill for an act
relating to human services; appropriating money for a grant to the Minnesota
Community of African People with Disabilities.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; MINNESOTA COMMUNITY OF AFRICAN PEOPLE
WITH DISABILITIES.

new text begin (a) $250,000 in fiscal year 2018 and $250,000 in fiscal year 2019 are appropriated from
the general fund to the commissioner of human services for a grant to the Minnesota
Community of African People with Disabilities for purposes of supporting Somali and East
African persons with disabilities. These appropriations may be used for, but not limited to:

new text begin (2) utilities;
new text end

new text begin (3) staff salaries, including salaries for physical and occupational therapists;

new text begin (4) medical equipment and mobility aids;
new text end

new text begin (5) English as a second language courses;
new text end

new text begin (6) computer literacy training; and
new text end

new text begin (7) life skills training.

new text begin (b) Each grant is for a period of two years.

new text begin (c) Beginning July 1, 2019, and for each grant cycle thereafter, the grantee must provide
a 30 percent match to receive state grant funds.

year.
