A bill for an act
 relating to transportation; prohibiting state funding for light rail operating costs
on new or expanded light rail lines; amending Minnesota Statutes 2016, section
473.4051, subdivision 2.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 473.4051, subdivision 2, is amended to read:


Subd. 2.

Operating costs.

used to pay for deleted text begin light rail transitdeleted text end operationsnew text begin costs of existing light rail transit lines providing
service on June 1, 2017new text end , 50 percent of the remaining operating costs new text begin for the lines new text end must be
paid by the state.

new text begin (b) The state is prohibited from paying any operating costs for a light rail line built on
or after June 1, 2017, or to expand or extend an existing light rail transit line providing
service on June 1, 2017.
