A bill for an act
relating to education; restricting female sports team participation to the female
sex; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, sections 121A.04, by adding a subdivision;
128C.02, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 121A.04, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin Preserving girls' sports. new text end

new text begin (a) This subdivision may be cited as the "Preserving
Girls' Sports Act."

new text begin (b) A school sponsored interscholastic, intramural, or club athletic team must be expressly
designated as one of the following categories of team members based on biological sex at
birth:

new text begin (1) males;
new text end

new text begin (2) females; or
new text end

new text begin (3) coed.
new text end

new text begin (c) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, the membership of athletic teams or sports
designated for females must only be open to participants who were biological females at
birth.

new text begin This section is effective the day following final enactment.

Sec. 2.

Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 128C.02, is amended by adding a subdivision to
read:

new text begin The league must adopt league rules and policy consistent with
section 121A.04, subdivision 4a.
