A bill for an act
relating to workforce development; appropriating money for a grant to the Latino
Economic Development Center.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $2,000,000 in fiscal year 2026 and $2,000,000 in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from
the workforce development fund to the commissioner of employment and economic
development for a grant to the Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC). Grant
proceeds may be used to assist, support, finance, and launch microentrepreneurs by delivering
training, workshops, and one-on-one consultations to businesses as well as capacity building
and general operations. Proceeds may also be used to assist prospective entrepreneurs in
the start-up process by introducing prospective entrepreneurs to key business concepts,
including business start-up readiness and innovating career pathways into trades, green
lending, technology, coding, STEM careers, translation services, and manufacturing.
