A bill for an act
relating to economic development; appropriating money for the East Side
Neighborhood Services.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; EAST SIDE NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES.

new text begin (a) $600,000 in fiscal year 2024 and $600,000 in fiscal year 2025 are appropriated from
the general fund to the commissioner of employment and economic development for a grant
to East Side Neighborhood Services. These are onetime appropriations.

new text begin (b) Of the amount appropriated in paragraph (a):

new text begin (1) $300,000 the first year and $300,000 the second year are for the senior community
service employment program, which provides work readiness training to low-income adults
55 and older, to provide ongoing support and mentoring needs to the program participants
as well as the transition period from subsidized wages to unsubsidized wages; and

new text begin (2) $300,000 the first year and $300,000 the second year are for the nursing assistant
plus program to serve the increased need for growth of medical talent pipelines through
expansion of the existing program and development of in-house training.
