A bill for an act
relating to auto insurance; establishing a threshold for accident prevention courses;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2022, section 65B.28, subdivision 2; repealing
Minnesota Rules, part 7411.7600, subpart 3.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2022, section 65B.28, subdivision 2, is amended to read:


Subd. 2.

Accident prevention course; rules.

new text begin (a) new text end The commissioner of public safety
shall adopt rules establishing and regulating a motor vehicle accident prevention course for
persons 55 years old and older.

new text begin (b) new text end The rules must, at a minimum, include provisions:

(1) establishing curriculum requirements;new text begin and

deleted text begin (2) establishing the number of hours required for successful completion of the course;
and

submission to an insured as evidence of completion of the course.

prevention courses held on or after that date.

7411.7600 REQUIREMENTS FOR APPROVAL AND OPERATION.

Subp. 3.

Course length restrictions.

The course of study may not be less than a total of eight hours, with no more than four hours of instruction required in a 24-hour period.
