A bill for an act
relating to public safety; appropriating money to expand the Department of
Corrections' work release program.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Section 1. new text begin WORK RELEASE EXPANSION; APPROPRIATION.

$7,500,000 in fiscal year 2024 and $7,500,000 in fiscal year 2025 are appropriated from
the general fund to the commissioner of corrections to increase work release programming
to facilitate the expanded use of work release in a manner consistent with public safety and
inmate rehabilitation. These are onetime appropriations.
