A bill for an act
relating to human rights; adding provisions to explain national origin discrimination;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2020, sections 363A.11, by adding a subdivision;
363A.12, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2020, section 363A.11, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin When an individual discriminates against
another person based on the belief that they may be illegally in the country or threatens to
turn another individual over to an immigration and customs office, or when a person faces
discrimination or harassment because they speak a language other than English, it is evidence
of national origin discrimination for the purposes of this chapter.

Sec. 2.

Minnesota Statutes 2020, section 363A.12, is amended by adding a subdivision to
read:
