 relating to taxation; sales and use; exempting the purchase of gun safes; amending
Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 297A.67, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 297A.67, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin A gun safe is exempt. For purposes of this subdivision, "gun safe"
means a locking container or other enclosure equipped with a padlock, key lock, combination
lock, or other locking device that is designed and intended for the secure storage of one or
more firearms.

new text begin This section is effective for sales and purchases made after June
30, 2018.
