A bill for an act
relating to state government; allowing transfer of title of state-owned retired canines
to canine handlers; amending Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 16B.2975, by
adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 16B.2975, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin The commissioner may give and convey to the canine's
handler the state's entirety of the right, title, interest, and estate in and to the canine for
which the handler trained and worked with while working for the state. The handler is solely
responsible for all expenses related to the retired canine after the conveyance.
