program; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin The sum indicated in this section is
appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Education in the fiscal year
designated.

new text begin Regional Grow Your Own teachers grant. new text end

new text begin (a) For a grant to the Northwest
Service Cooperative in Thief River Falls for the purposes described in this subdivision:

new text begin (b) The grant under this section may be used for the following purposes:

new text begin (1) increasing the capacity of local colleges and universities to develop and sustain
programs that prepare future public educators;
new text end

new text begin (2) removing barriers that impede the development, recruitment, hiring, and retention
of highly qualified teachers, including teachers of color and American Indian teachers, in
Northwestern Minnesota;
new text end

new text begin (3) providing opportunities for high school students to explore careers in education while
also gaining transferable college credits; and
new text end

new text begin (4) elevating the teaching profession and recruiting potential candidates to high-need
areas within the region.

new text begin (c) The appropriation under this section does not cancel and is available until June 30,
2023.
