A bill for an act
relating to corrections; employment and economic development; education;
appropriating money to provide reentry services to individuals in and exiting
criminal custody, and mentorship to boys in grades 6 to 12.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATIONS; REENTRY TRANSITION GRANTS; YOUTH
MENTORSHIP GRANT.

new text begin (a) $700,000 in fiscal year 2021 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of corrections for a grant to an organization in Hennepin County that operates three core
programs to engage youth and adults in research-based interactive learning experiences to
overcome obstacles and find success through personal empowerment and leadership; and
to provide prerelease and postrelease personal development and leadership training,
education, mentorship, navigation tools, and other community-based services necessary to
facilitate reentry and establishment into communities for individuals in or released from
criminal custody. This is a onetime appropriation.

of employment and economic development for a grant to an organization in Hennepin
County that operates three core programs to engage youth and adults in research-based
interactive learning experiences to overcome obstacles and find success through personal
empowerment and leadership and to assist individuals released from custody with
employment preparation and facilitate employment opportunities. This is a onetime
appropriation.
