A bill for an act
relating to health; requiring collection of data on emergency response personnel;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 144.051, subdivision 2.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 144.051, subdivision 2, is amended to read:


Subd. 2.

Information system.

new text begin (a) new text end The commissioner of health shall establish a system
for the collection, analysisnew text begin ,new text end and reporting of data on individuals licensed or registered by
the commissioner or the health-related licensing boards as defined in section 214.01,
subdivision 2
. Individuals licensed or registered by the commissioner or the health-related
licensing boards shall provide information to the commissioner of health that the
commissioner may, pursuant to section 144.052, require. The commissioner shall publish
at least biennially, a report which indicates the type of information available and methods
for requesting the information.

new text begin (b) The commissioner shall collect workforce data on emergency medical responders,
emergency medical technicians, advanced emergency medical technicians, ambulance
service personnel, paramedics, and volunteer ambulance attendants to determine how many
workers are needed in the state and how many workers are already in the workforce. Data
collected shall be used to track personnel turnover, analyze future workforce needed, and
identify the gaps between current and future staff levels.
