A bill for an act
relating to public safety; authorizing probation officers to conduct unannounced
searches of persons on probation or pretrial release; proposing coding for new
law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 244.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin As a condition of being placed on court ordered probation or pretrial release to a
county probation officer under section 244.19, subdivision 1, paragraph (a), clause (1)
or (2), a person shall submit to unannounced searches of the person or vehicle or any
portion of a premises under the person's control by, or at the direction of, any county
probation officer for the purposes of determining compliance with the person's conditions
of probation or pretrial release.
